SEATTLE -- The King County Sheriff's Office says a man suspected of being the polite robber was arrested Monday afternoon by detectives and the SWAT Team.

Sgt. John Urquhart says the 65-year-old man was taken into custody at about 2 p.m. at a residence in the Top Hat neighborhood where the man was living. The location is not far from the Shell Station at 2805 SW Roxbury that he allegedly robbed on Saturday.

His demeanor at the time of arrest is unknown, Urquhart said in a press release.

The Washington State Department of Corrections identifes him as Gregory Paul Hess.

Surveillance video captured a man politely robbingthe convenience store Saturday morning, profusely apologizing to a rather surprised store owner throughout the incident.

At the time of the robbery, police said the robber was armed with a semi-automatic pistol.

The video quickly went viral. Urquhart said the suspect was identified from tips.

Hess is a convicted felon, including convictions for Forgery and Armed Robbery.
