It's Primary Election Day in Washington State, and voters are choosing which candidates will move onto the General Election in November.
One of the biggest contests: the race for Seattle mayor. Nine candidates are competing for two spots in the race for mayor. Eight people are challenging incumbent Mike McGinn. The two candidates who receive the most votes in the primary will advance to the general election in November.
The big question on many people's minds: Will Mike McGinn be the second straight Seattle mayor to be ousted in a primary?
In the latest KING 5 News poll, State Senator Ed Murray was nearly tied with Mayor McGinn, with 25 percent of voters still undecided. Former Seattle Councilman Peter Steinbrueck is also considered a strong candidate, along with and City Councilman Bruce Harrell.
Primary ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 6 or dropped in a ballot drop box by 8 p.m.
