People are living longer and healthier lives, a study from Harvard University reports.

Researchers looked at 90,000 Medicare patients over an 18-year period and found that the period of time in which people suffer poor health has been compressed until the end of life for many. People are eating healthier, exercising more and modern medicine makes it possible to recover from what used to be fatal events, such as heart attacks and strokes.

This study comes after a Danish study earlier this month showed that older people today are sharper than those in previous generations.
