Tesoro Corporation has agreed to pay $1.1 million in fines for federal clean air violations at its operation in Anacortes, Wash. and three other locations.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced today that the penalties are for failures in record keeping, reporting, sampling and testing.

The violations under the federal Clean Air Act occurred in Anacortes, as well as facilities in Salt Lake City, Mandan, N.D., and Kenai, Alaska.

The EPA said the violations could lead to fuels that produce unhealthy emissions that violate U.S. standards.
