A woman died Tuesday afternoon after she was hit by a truck in South Seattle.
The accident happened at the intersection of 1st Ave. S. and S. Findlay St.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that the 69-year-old woman was crossing 1st Avenue South from west to east at or near the intersection.
A 56-year-old man was driving his Chevrolet pick-up truck westbound on South Findlay Street and stopped at a stop sign at 1st Avenue South. He then proceeded to turn left onto southbound 1st Avenue South when the driver and pedestrian collided in the southbound lanes of 1st Avenue South.
The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
