SEATTLE -- Family members of slain British student Meredith Kercher say they feel it is back to square one following the dramatic appeals court verdict overturning the conviction of American student Amanda Knox and her one-time Italian boyfriend.

We do find that we are left obviously looking at this again, says Lyle Kercher, Meredith s brother. We are left thinking how a decision that was so certain two years ago is so emphatically overturned now.

Lyle Kercher said the family has been left to wonder who is guilty in the 21-year-old Kercher s death after the release of Knox and Raffaele Sollecito on appeal. A third man, Rudy Guede, has been convicted in the brutal slaying, however, his trial concluded that he did not act alone.

The family has made it clear that it s too early to talk about forgiveness, and they support any attempt by Italian prosecutors to challenge the acquittal, but they still respect the Italian justice system.

We said all along, we don t want the wrong people put away for a crime that they didn t commit, said Stephanie Kercher, Meredith s sister.

Meanwhile, Meredith s mother Arline is left reliving a nightmare.

She (Meredith) was in the safest place, she said. She was in her bedroom.
