A unique program atPacific Northwest Ballet helps dancers develop skills to help them transition to a new career even before their performing days come to an end. It's called Second Stage and it offers grants and links to various educational courses, including a partnership with SeattleUniversity,lays the groundwork to help dancers succeed in new professions as diverse as real estate, medicine and law.
Second Stage co-founder and PNB Principal Dancer Maria Chapman joined Margaret to talk more about the program, along with Jordan Pacitti, who retired from PNB in 2010 after performing with the group for 11 years and used Second Stage to launch his own line of natural fragrance products.
Maria will help open the Pacific Northwest Ballet's new season, which begins September23rdwith a series of performances called All Wheeldon. For more information about All Wheeldon and the rest of PNB's schedule, click here.
