SEATTLE - The Seattle Department of Transportation will close roads and reduce lanes in the Mercer Corridor again this week.
The closure of Taylor Avenue, near Mercer, has been moved to August 18 and 19. Taylor will be completely closed those two nights so crews can install a new water main and open with steel plates during the day.
On Monday and Tuesday, SDOTwill close the right southbound lane of 5th Avenue North between Mercer and Republican, as well as the center lane of westbound Mercer Street between Taylor and 5th.
There are also some pedestrian crossings that will be eliminated at this time. The work will allow crews to pour concrete and install underground utilities.
SDOT says the closures will be during daytime hours only, and have been planned to avoid morning, and afternoon rush hours.
