Tenino students should be feeling a sense of relief and accomplishment Tuesday. The high school students were part of an unique fundraiser that will help improve the lives of 254 orphans at a school in Ghana, Africa.

Starting Monday morning, student government members blasted the Justin Bieber song Baby on repeat during passing periods and at lunch.

Originally they had a fundraising goal of $500, but student government president Connor Stakelin said they had raised $915.64 by first period Tuesday. And the music had stopped.

The idea to support the academy overseas came from Tenino Elementary School Principal Dave Ford. The cause unified the entire community.

With this fundraiser and others, Tenino High School hopes to raise at least $1,200, which will be enough to provide food and school supplies for the orphans through April.
