BOISE, Idaho -- The captain of a Seattle-bound United Airlines flight has died after having an apparent heart attack during the flight.
Flight 1603, which originated in Houston, made an emergency landing in Boise just before 8 p.m. Thursday.
United Airlines spokeswoman Christen David confirmed the captain died just before midnight.
The Ada County Coroner's Office identified the captain as Henry Skillern. The 63-year-old from Humble, Tex., died of Acute Myocardial Infraction.
Passengers say Skillern was pulled unconcious from the cockpit. They say a doctor along with two soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord who were on board performed CPR.
The passengers also say another person on board who trains 737 pilots took over as co-pilot while the original co-pilot took over as captain.
David says another pilot flew the original plane and 161 passengers to Sea-Tac Airport.
