Concerned about a suspicious device, police detonated what turned out to be a flashlight outside the FBI offices in downtown Seattle Monday morning.

The flashlight caught the attention of security guards at the Abraham Lincoln building near 3rd and Seneca around 2:00 a.m.

The flashlight had a blinking red light, according to FBIspokesperson Ayn Dietrich. It was found on top of a metal grate that surrounds a sidewalk tree.

Police were immediately concerned because the building where the flashlight was found houses FBIoffices.

As a precaution, a bomb squad robot was used to detonate the item.

Soon after, officers determined the flashlight was not rigged to be an explosive.
