KIRKLAND, Wash. - A popular local radio and TV financial consultant is under investigation by state regulators.
Rhonda Breard, whose Kirkland financial planning business targets large investors, has been terminated by ING FinancialPartners over what the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions tells KING 5 News involves issues with the altering of customer statements.
Some of Breard's clients said they could be out hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The DFI staffers tell KING 5 News that at least one of Breard's clients has reported, and they are investigating the claim, that securities they know they paid for and thought had been purchased with ING in fact never were settled.
In other words, the sale was never closed, but somehow their statements showed the investment was part of their account.
No criminal charges have been filed in the case and the allegations remain just that, allegations.
Breard's lush Lake Washington Blvd. offices have been shuttered, the answering machine says the firm is closed and the Web site has been taken down.
ING would not comment on the matter.
Breard did not returnKING 5's phone calls.
The State Department of Financial Institutions would like to hear from Breard's clients who have been contacted by ING about irregularities in their accounts.
