ARLINGTON, Wash. -- After five days of waiting, Barbara Welsh got the bad news she was expecting.
Thursday the medical examiner confirmed her husband Bill died in the Oso landslide.
While devastated, the news brought some relief to Welsh.
I'm just very fortunate, very fortunate, she said.
Welsh feared her husband's remains would never be found.
Once Welsh is finished planning the funeral, she wants to help the search effort.
My wish is that everybody would be found, she said.
The two were married in Mount Vernon in 1971.
Bill Welsh worked in the timber industry and was an electrical supervisor.
The Sedro-Wooley High School graduate was in the Army before he got married.
Bill always said there was a reason he survived Vietnam. He knew there was more for him, said Welsh.
He leaves behind two sons and two grandsons.
