If there's anyone who knows what The Voice blind auditions feel like, it's Stephanie Anne Johnson.

Johnson, 29, a former cruise ship singer from Tacoma, made it to the Final 20 in last year's Season 5, originally coached by Christina Aguilera.

I saw her and I remember just being like, 'Ah! There she is!' Johnson laughed.

It's hard to believe that Johnson, who's traveled while singing to 31 countries, once suffered stage fright as a young singer.

I was so nervous my hands started to shake, she said about one of her first public appearances.

KING 5 watched Season 6 blind auditions with Johnson on Tuesday night. The coaches aren't allowed to see the contestants when they begin singing.

You can't just stand there and sing. You have to tell a story. Otherwise, you're just standing there, she said. Music is not a sport. So you can't really win at it.

Johnson even recognized a familiar face, Carrie Laine. The two met in pre-show auditions last year.

That season, Laine never advanced to the show.

Sweet girl, I hope she wins! Johnson said while the judges spoke to Laine.

Johnson, now a three-album recording artist, says she's floored by all the love she's received from strangerssince her returnhome from California.

She also learned a lesson while away on The Voice: that no song begins without the first note, and a blind audition begins with blind faith.

That I had to go to the audition, just like everybody else, Johnson.
