YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Washington Transportation Department says a 45-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 12 across White Pass has been closed by a washout. There is no estimate on when the highway will reopen.

The closure runs from the Oak Creek feeding station near the State Route 410 junction to the State Route 123 junction west of White Pass.

Transportation officials said Tuesday the road is washed out just east of the summit.
