The Seattle School District says some students will be allowed to skip parts of the controversial MAP test.

The district is relaxing a few of the rules after teachers boycotted the test at several schools.

Now, ninth graders who pass the state's reading exam can skip the MAP reading test.

The standardized test is supposed to track student progress.

But many teachers believe it's a waste of resources and class time.
