VANCOUVER -- Clark County Health officials have now confirmed 21 cases of Salmonella and said there were 55 probable cases linked to the On The Border restaurant in Vancouver that was closed last week.

Anyone who ate at On the Border Mexican Grill, at 1505 Southeast 164th Avenue, between Sept. 20 and Oct. 8, and is experiencing salmonella symptoms should contact a health care provider, said health officer Dr. Alan Melnick.

Symptoms can include severe diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever, chills, abdominal discomfort and occasionally vomiting, Melnick said. The symptoms generally appear one to three days after exposure.

The restaurant was closed Tuesday morning to stop the spread of the infection while officials investigated the source of the outbreak.

All surfaces in the restaurant are being cleaned and workers are being tested for the bacteria. Once the restaurant is cleaned and workers are cleared the restaurant can re-open, officials said.
