SEATTLE - Rainier Beach looked every bit the team to beat in the opening round of the Class 3A boys state tournament on Wednesday.

Aaron Dotson scored 20 points and had five steals, and the Vikings' full-court pressure defense overwhelmed Peninsula in the second half as Rainier Beach rolled to a 78-39 win.

Reggie Moore added 14, including a trio of thunderous dunks in the fourth quarter, as the Vikings improved to 26-1.

Peninsula handled the Vikings' pressure for a half, trailing 43-27 at halftime. But Rainier Beach was unrelenting in the second half, even into the fourth quarter after the lead had grown to 30 points.

Rainier Beach forced 20 second-half turnovers and held the Seahawks to just 12 points. The Vikings also were efficient on offense, shooting 63 percent.

Rudy Martin led Peninsula (13-12) with nine points.
