An abandoned motel in downtown Centralia burned early Saturday. The Riverside Motel has been empty for years.

Fire officials say at 1:56 a.m. the Riverside Fire Authority responded to a report of a commercial structure fire at 614 Harrison Ave.

The first arriving Engine Company found heavy fire in the northwest portion of the modular units. Crews from Riverside Fire Authority, Chehalis Fire Department and West Thurston Fire Authority worked until around 6:45 a.m. to control the fire.

Crews from Riverside Fire Authority were expected to remain on scene throughout the day and would beging searching for the cause of the fire.

There were reports by bystanders that transients were living in the structure.
No victims were located inside the structure.
