A 44-year-old man was killed in Renton Thursday morning after crashing a stolen motorcycle while trying to evade state troopers.

It happened around 1:20 a.m. on State Route 169.

The Washington State Patrol said the motorcycle driver was traveling at high speed and failed to stop for a trooper on SR 169, leading to a pursuit.

During the chase, the motorcycle driver diverted onto the Cedar River Trail which parallels the highway. The driver hit a pole, was thrown from his motorcycle and was killed at the scene.

WSP said the motorcycle was stolen from Lacey.
