SEATTLE --Organizers say about 22,000 people are expected each night at the Freaknight Rave Party at the WaMu Theater. That s about the same size as the crowd in 2012, but organizers say they have increased security to try and make the event safer.

Videos with an anti-drug message played on screens as people entered the event Friday. Event attendees were also encouraged to report problems without fear of getting in trouble.

Organizers increased security from last year adding an additional 150 officers. Although the Seattle Police Department and King County Sheriff s Office did not allow off-duty officers to work there, there was a visible police presence outside.

Many partygoers said they had no concern about going inside.

I feel like they're really, really strict and there's too many cops I don't think they can get away with anything, said Pheben Ceshome.

Frank Truncali was there with two friends.

Don't come out here by yourself, you've got your friends to look out for each other, said Truncali.

The promoter, United State of Consciousness Events, partnered with the University of Washington and the County to communicate with partygoers about keeping the two-day party problem free. In addition to the uniformed officers, about 25 volunteer safety ambassadors circulated through the event looking for issues and offering assistance.
