PUYALLUP - An 18-year-old woman is in custody after leading officers on a car chase and ramming several police vehicles, according to Puyallup Police. Officers attempted to pull the woman over after her mother reported that her daughter assaulted her Saturday morning, Captain Scott Engle said.

While officers were pursuing the suspect, investigators said she collided head-on with a police cruiser in the parking lot of the YMCA at the 400 block of 43rd Avenue SE. Engle said the suspect hit a second police car and also struck another vehicle.

Officers knew the seriousness of the situation and the need to get her stopped immediately before she struck another citizen and hurt someone even worse, Engle said.

The chase came to an end near 43 Ave SE and South Meridian when the suspect lost control of her car and crashed into a sign.

Ran out the backdoor to see a car just wrapped around a pole on the front end and a bunch of cops cautiously going up to it trying to get the person out of the vehicle, witness Victor Mangum said.

According to police, the woman s mother told officers her daughter was under the influence of drugs. She was arrested and could face several charges, including second degree assault and domestic violence assault.
