Firefighters from as far away as Seattle were called in to help put out a fire at a Redmond recycling plant on Wednesday.

The fire broke out at about 11 a.m. in the 75-foot-high pile of wood products at All Wood Recycling on Union Hill Road.

The fire was put out but later flared up. Smoke caaused traffic tie-ups on nearby roads.

Three pieces of heavy equipment were digging up the pile and pulling it apart so fire crews could wet down the pile to prevent anymore flare-ups.

The Redmond Fire Department planned to be on the scene over night.
