KENT, Wash. -- The King County sheriff's office says a man drove a pickup truck into a home near Kent and shot his ex-wife Thursday morning. That truck was later found in Snohomish County with a body nearby.
The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Sgt. Cindi West says the truck went through a front window and several feet into the home. The man got out, went looking for his ex-wife and fired several shots.
West says the woman was wounded in a hand.
The man backed out of the house and fled.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said a truck matching the description of the one involved was found near Gold Bar around 9 a.m. Deputies discovered a body near the scene that had what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The identity of the victim had not been confirmed, but West said investigators are working under the assumption that the body is the man's.
West says the couple have apparently been divorced for some time and it's unknown what prompted the attack. West says there were three children in the house, ages 10 to 18. Two escaped out windows. One called 911.
