BELLEVUE, Wash. -- A two-alarm fire damaged an apartment complex in Bellevue on Monday night, forcing 60 people to evacuate.

The fire started on the roof and spread across the top floor of the apartments in the 5900 block of 119th Avenue Southeast. The building had an alarm system, but no sprinklers.

Bellevue Fire Department's spokesperson Troy Donlin said that they received a call about the fire just before 8:30 p.m.

The Red Cross is providing assistance for 19 of the residents.

Firefighters have cleared the scene and investigators will look for a cause today.
