Crews at the University of Washington used a crane to hoist a giant sink through the window of Suzzallo Library.

The stainless steel sink measures 4 feet by 8 feet and is too large to fit into the building's elevators.

The sink will be used in work to conserve rare and fragile paper in the UW Libraries Conservation Lab.

UW said in order to protect the material treated, the sink must be strong enough to withstand water weight without flexing.
