If you re an Olympics fan, here s another event sure to give you an adrenaline rush.
Special Olympics Washington is giving away a $5 million lakeside mansion on Lake Sammamish. Your chances of winning are much better than the state lottery, if at least 75,000 raffle tickets are sold in the game.
Dan Wartelle of Special Olympics Washington said that is the minimum number of tickets they need to sell in order for the mansion to be a grand prize. If fewer than 75,000 are sold, a cash prize will be awarded based upon the revenue generated.
It s all part of a fundraiser that marks the first raffle of its kind in Washington state.
The custom home spans 10,000-square-feet with a private dock. It has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a wine cellar, a home theater and guest cottage.
Wartelle said this contest is two years in the making.
We had to go to the Washington State Legislature to increase the grand prize amount, said Wartelle.
Raffle buyers have a choice. If they don t want the house, they can choose a cash prize of $4 million. Ticket holders also have a chance to win over 1,700 other prizes including several new cars, vacations and electronics.
Wartelle says your odds of winning a prize are 1-in-50.
Tickets are $150 each, three tickets for $400 or five tickets for $550. They are available at www.PugetSoundRaffle.com.
There s no limit to how many tickets individuals can buy. But, there will only be a total of 85,000 tickets sold for the entire event.
Friends of Special Olympics put the house up for the raffle. The unnamed homeowners have been trying to sell it. Tickets go on sale Wednesday and the drawing happens March 13. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Washington which will be holding their state winter games in Wenatchee later this month.
Story updated Thursday to reflect new information regarding rules surrounding the grand prize house giveaway.
