You may start using more Made in the USA products thanks to a growing trend emerging from the U.S. manufacturing industry called reshoring. It has several local companies expanding production on U.S. soil because of new economic and cost advantages.

Taphandles in Woodinville is shifting production of its custom beer taps and marketing products to Western Washington. Until recently, the company has focused growth in China, where wages and costs were down. But today, wages in China are going up and costs have increased 300 percent since 2006.

The rapid growth is now in the United States, said founder Paul Fichter. Fichter expects to boost employment from 100 to 200 positions this year.

Fichter also said U.S. workers are capable of operating high tech machines that can build Taphandles in less than half the time.

I think you'll see more people coming back like we are, Fichter said. More and more people will look at that balance of cost between China and the United States and figure how much they are spending on travel and customs and shipping.

Fichter says he won t slow production in China where he employs 500 workers.

Industries in Washington state that are seeing the most growth include manufacturing, with 3,000 jobs added last month.
