We kicked off our New Day's Gotta Learn It' week with a musical bang, by inviting Rodney Higuchi and Pam Mandel from the Seattle Ukulele Players Association to join us and teach the audience how to play the ukulele! The instrument has long been popular in Hawaiian culture and is gaining popularity lately, thanks to musicians like popular Hawaiian singer Iz and more recently, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, who recorded an ukulele album.

Rodney and Pam brought ukuleles for the audience, generously loaned to us by Dustry Strings in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, Sound Uke on Vashon Island and Pat Klopich from Ukulele WikiWiki. Margaret and the entire audience learned how to play You Are My Sunshine, and gave an impromptu performance!
