SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Students will return to Skyline High School on Friday after taking an unexpected day off due to an online threat.

The anonymous threat was posted on a social media site by a person who stated that they would bring a machine gun to Skyline High School and shoot until they ran out of ammunition.

The King County Sheriff's Office traced the threat to a server in Sweden, but said it could be a cover up. The person responsible for the threat could live in the area, and detectives are following up on leads.

The threat is similar to one posted on the same social media site in April, but that threat focused on Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood.

Eastside Catholic School decided to cancel Friday classes. The Friday night football game will be moved to Saturday. Staff will use the time to take a closer look at safety procedures.

The threat did not focus on the private school, but the campus is near Skyline.

Students like Mollie Reams are glad the school is taking the safety precaution.

I wasn't worried until people started talking about it and saying, 'What if they come to my school,' said Reams.

Anyone with information about the online threat is asked to contact the King County Sheriff's office at 206-296-3311.
