SEATTLE-- Nearly $5,000 was left behind in change at Sea-Tac International Airport in 2010, according to counts from the TSA.

Exactly $4,951.42 was collected from Sea-Tac and the Bellingham airport, said Sea-Tac officials. The money came from passengers who removed the change from their pockets before going through security.

The unclaimed money is counted and turned into the TSA financial office, where, according to NBCSan Diego, it goes to the general operating budget of the TSA.

Around the country, travelers left behind $409,085.56 in loose change.

The most money was collected at John F. Kennedy International Airport inNew York, where the TSA counted $46,908.16.
