Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will not be joining Erin Andrews for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, at least not this year. Wilson was invited for a second consecutive year he also declined after his rookie season but told Access Hollywood that he wants to focus solely on football.
Via Access Hollywood:
I need to focus on my football career right now. It s one of those things where I m trying to do as much as I can winning football games for the Seattle Seahawks and our franchise.
Wilson said that he s going to appear on DWTS sooner or later, though.
At some point, I m going to definitely do it. I love Dancing with the Stars. I love watching, and I love dancing myself, so hopefully, I could win it.
If and when Wilson does compete, he d likely be a favorite to win. Football players have enjoyed enormous success in the contest. Donald Driver, Hines Ward and Emmitt Smith have won DWTSin previous seasons, while Jerry Rice, Jacoby Jones, Warren Sapp and Jason Taylor have each finished in the top three.
Andrews, a former contestant, will be the new co-host of DWTS alongside Tom Bergeron. There s still time to sign up Richard Sherman, ABC.
