TACOMA -- Green vines curl and coil on top of bright orange pumpkins with ridges dusted in what looks like sugar. But these pumpkins are made of glass in every size, shape and color you can imagine on display at the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio.

We start making our glass pumpkins in January, so that we'll have thousands ready to sell by October, said owner Mark Sigafoos.

The glass pumpkins are then carefully packed, moved to different Western Washington cities and set up to resemble pumpkin patches. The prices range from $35 up to $300 depending on the size.

About 8 years ago we started making these small glass pumpkins, and customers just loved them, said Jeannine Sigafoos. So we decided to start offering them in other areas.

Over the years, the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio has perfected the art of blowing out glass pumpkins.

Usually it takes one person about 30 minutes to make one pumpkin, said Mark Sigafoos. We now have teams of four and make them in just a few minutes.

A portion of every pumpkin sale goes to local and international children's charities.

Check out the website and find a glass pumpkin patch location.
