The Fiddler s Inn, a former post-prohibition tavern, is becoming the neighborhood pub for Wedgewood residents.

I love the atmosphere, I love the community feeling. It's kind of cozy and warm and very bright, (with) so many windows in here, said Northwest gardening expert Ciscoe Morris, but the atmosphere is what I truly love.

Fiddler s Inn offers pizzas, salads and sandwiches that just hit the cheap eats limit of $10.

I love your Mean Paninis. What s a good bear to go with that? Ciscoe asks a staff member at the Fiddler s Inn.

We've got the Elysian Field Ginger Pumpkin Pilsner, recommends the waiter.

That sounds good. I'll go for a half pint! says Cisco.

Cisco got his first gardening job when he was 10 years old at a church down the street from his home in Wisconsin.

The old guy at the church, Old Joe, he became like my second dad and we worked together all the time, said Ciscoe. Something happened to him during World War II. He hated poisons with a passion, so I learned all kinds of great techniques to gardening without resorting to pesticides and I still use a lot of those techniques today.

In 1972, Ciscoe hitchhiked to Seattle and planted himself here.

This is gardening paradise! says Ciscoe.

He has become the Northwest s busiest and best known gardening expert.

Can you still come to a place like this and not have someone ask you a gardening question, asks Evening Magazine s Saint Bryan.

Well to tell the truth I answer a lot of gardening questions here, laughs Ciscos. But you know, most of the time people just come up and say aw I really love watching you on TV, go back and sit down. It s only now and then that someone comes in and sits between me and my wife and asks me how to take care of their lawn laugh.

The $9.95 paninis arrive. Ciscoe s Panini has roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, onion, cheese and spinach. Saint s muffaletta has salami, Canadian bacon, peppers and provolone.

This is good, and wait til you taste the salad, too, says Cisco. Different kinds of greens in there, covered with veggies. That s my kind of salad right there.
