Washington State Patrol detectives are asking witnesses to a fatal crash on Interstate 5 on Sunday morning to call in.

Early Sunday morning, a three-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a semi driver on southbound Interstate 5 near 336th St. in Federal Way.

The State Patrol says a 21-year-old Renton man was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on I-5 at about 2 a.m. when he lost control and struck a barrier.

A Toyota Camry being driven by a 24-year-old Tacoma woman hit the Altima, pushing the Altima into the other lane.

The tractor trailer driven by a 68-year-old Sumner man hit the Altima, went off the road, rolled over, struck the sound wall and then caught fire. The truck driver was killed.

The driver of the Altima was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of vehicular homicide. Troopers believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. A hearing was held on Monday, where bail was set at $100,000.

The collision is under investigation and detectives are asking anyone who may have seen the collisions or observed the vehicles involved prior to the collision to contact Detective Russ Haake at (425) 401-7717.
