The organization working to pass Referendum 74 and legalize same sex marriage in Washington state on Tuesday announced the beginning of its broadcast ad campaign.

According to the campaign's spokesperson, Zach Silk, the campaign will begin Wednesday with TV ads in the Seattle market.

Silk said in the coming weeks, the campaign will expand statewide to cable and eventually to every TV/radio broadcast market in the state. Silk said the group will spend about $5 million on broadcast ads before Election Day.

Washington United has raised more than $7 million. Opponents of gay marriage have raised less than $600,000.

Although same sex marriage is legal in six states, to date no same sex marriage law has been passed into law by voters.
