A King County Sheriff's deputy was injured Friday in a crash while driving his patrol car in the White Center neighborhood.
A male suspect is accused of turning his vehicle in front of the deputy, causing the head-on collision. Alcohol is suspected of playing a role in the crash.
Investigators said the suspect initially fled the crash scene near Southwest 112th Street &1st Avenue Southwest and then returned, attempting to blend into a growing crowd of onlookers.
Police quickly arrested him. He was taken to the hospital for medical attention first, and then booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.
The crash happened around 1:00 a.m. and blocked the intersection at 112th and 1st Avenue for several hours.
Investigators said the suspect was driving a silver sedan northbound on 112th before he turned and crashed into the deputy's southbound patrol car head-on.
Both the deputy and the sedan driver were taken to Harborview Medical Center.
The deputy's was treated for a gash to the head. The sedan driver's injuries did not appear to be serious.
