A 12-year-old boy on an outing with his Boy Scout troop died Saturday when a log rolled over him.
Jefferson County officials say the boy was with four adults - including his father - and 10 children on an overnight hike in the Lower Lena Lake area.
Jefferson County says a group of scouts were exploring when they decided to roll a log into the lake.
Once the log moved, it caught the boy's coat and rolled over him.
Two other boys ran back to the campsite to get help. A scout leader ran down to the trailhead and drove six miles to get cell service and called for help.
Because of the remote location, rescuers didn't get to the boy until two hours later.
The boy died before rescuers arrived.
