OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Five law enforcement officers from across the state received the state s highest honor Friday, the Medal of Honor.

It s very humbling, said Spokane County Sheriff s Deputy Michael Northway.

He was shot four times by a wanted man last June.

I am appreciative, said Northway, Appreciative my family doesn t see my name in the stone.

The stone is the state s law enforcement memorial, inscripted with the names of the state s more than 250 officers killed in the line of duty.

One of the recent additions is Margaret Anderson.

The Mount Rainier ranger was killed by a gunman in the park on New Year s Day 2012.

Her parents received her Medal of Honor, posthumously, Friday.

Spokane County Deputy Joseph Spink, shot last June, also received the medal, along with two Lakewood Police officers, Ryan Moody and Jon Waller.

Moody and Waller chased, shot and killed a man who had been shooting at them. They both were nearly hit.

You try not to think about it, in the heat of it, said Waller, I didn t know it was that close.
