KENT, Wash. --Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas says rooting out gang activity is now his department s number one priority.

He made the announcement Wednesday in an emergency meeting with the City Council, which was asking for an update to Saturday s gang-related shooting spree at a Kent shopping complex. Thomas said it s now clear the shooting likely involved people who were not from the city.

There were gang members from throughout the region, including from Eastern Washington, and California at this event, says Thomas, There were other retaliatory incidents and I m concerned based on intelligence that I ve had, there could be more.

Thomas says he met with leaders from other King and Pierce police and prosecutor s offices on Wednesday to share information in the case, in hopes of making arrests soon.
