Janet Kim joined KING 5 News as a general assignment reporter in March 2014 and is thrilled to be at a station she admired since the start of her career.
This isn't her first stint in the Pacific Northwest. Janet started her journey in broadcast news at KDRV in Medford, Oregon as the Klamath Falls Bureau Chief and eventually became the station's Weekend Anchor.
Her career then took her to WKYT in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was the reporter chosen to cover the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C.
Janet then landed at WTVF in Nashville, Tennessee, a shop known for its talented photojournalists and visual story-telling. She covered everything from the aftermath of the historic May floods of 2010 to devastating tornadoes that ripped through the region in 2013.
Her work has been recognized with three Emmy nominations and awards from the Associated Press.
Janet graduated from the University of Texas with a triple major. She has a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communication Studies, and English. She also has a minor in Business. Her love for learning and school didn't end there—she will soon have a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts.
When she's not reporting or buried in her schoolbooks, you will most likely find Janet checking out all the area's restaurants with her husband!
Janet will be spending much of her time reporting from Tacoma. She is always looking for a good story—so feel free to email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
