TULSA – Seattle closed out its second four-game road trip Sunday afternoon, falling 85-79 at the BOK Center against the Shock.
Tanisha Wright had a season-high 24 points – one shy of her career-high – but it was not enough as the Shock outscored Seattle 20-7 in the final 6:40 of the game. Sue Bird added 12 points. Seattle ended the day with 21 assists, a season high for the team.
“They really hit the offensive rebounds hard,” said Bird. “For the most part, we were able to guard their initial offense. We would [force] them [to] take a tough shot, but then we let them get second and third opportunities. It’s what got them the lead in the first half and ultimately what won them the game.”
Skylar Diggins, who scored a career-high 26 points, gave Tulsa the lead for good on a free throw with 3:12 left in the game.
Tulsa’s Courtney Paris added a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds and Glory Johnson chipped in with a double-double of her own, 12 points and 13 rebounds. Tulsa outrebounded Seattle 36-23.
The team returns back to KeyArena on Thursday against San Antonio at 7 p.m.
