Competitors in open tryouts for Sounders FC to appear on reality TV
03:09 PM PDT on Friday, October 24, 2008
Seattle Sounders FC
SEATTLE – Northwest soccer fans dreaming of finding the same glory on the pitch that bartender Vince Papale did on the football field for the 1976 Philadelphia Eagles will get their shot next month.
Seattle Sounders FC, which begins play in Major League Soccer next season, will host open tryouts in three cites in November, and the tryouts will be filmed for a reality TV series.
"Chivas USA has utilized the open tryout process very effectively," said Sounders FC majority owner Joe Roth in a press release. "The 2007 winner plays for Chivas USA and the U.S. Under-20 National Team. We believe similar talent exists in the Northwest."
