Branch out for Seattle; Locklear unlikely to play

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Deion Branch

RENTON, Wash. - The return of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Deion Branch is going to wait at least a week.

Coach Mike Holmgren says Branch will not play Sunday when the Seahawks open their season at Buffalo. Branch was trying to get back in time for the season opener just seven months after having major reconstructive surgery on his left knee.

Branch was injured in last January's NFC playoff loss to Green Bay. He returned to doing some drills with the team this week after doing mostly individual work during training camp.

Holmgren also say it's unlikely that starting right tackle Sean Locklear will play. Locklear has been bothered by a left knee injury. Ray Willis would start in Locklear's place.
