Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw a wildly-disputed 24-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate on the last play of the game to give the Seahawks a 14-12 victory over the Green Bay Packers at CenturyLink Field Monday night. With the victory, the Seahawks improved to 2-1.

On the final play, with the Seahawks trailing 12-7, Seattle's last chance at victory, Wilson threw a floater into the end zone. Tate pushed off on a Green Bay defender and could have -- and should have -- been called for offensive pass interference, but wasn't. The pass seemed to have been intercepted, but the officials ruled that Tate had it and the touchdown stood.

"I've never seen anything like that in all my years in football," said Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy.

Green Bay had taken a 12-7 lead in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run by Cedric Benson.

The Seahawks (1-1) got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter when Wilson threw a 41-yard, play-action touchdown pass to Tate. The drive covered five plays and 78 yards.

The Seahawks dominated the first half defensively, registering eight sacks -- four by Chris Clemons in the second quarter -- against Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rogers and limiting him to 86 passing yards. The Packers had just 40 yards rushing in the first half.

The Packers cut the lead to 7-3 on the opening drive of the third quarter when Mason Crosby kicked a 29-yard field goal following a 70-yard drive that consumed 6:49. Crosby then nailed a 40-yard field goal with 1:14 left in the third period to make it 7-6.

The Seahawks play their second NFC West game next Sunday when they travel to the Edward Jones Dome to face the St. Louis Rams. After an Oct. 7 contest at Carolina, the Seahawks return to CenturyLink Field Oct. 14 to face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Art Thiel will have a column coming up soon.
