The Seahawks will go with two quarterbacks on their active roster after signing Josh Portis to the eight-man practice squad the past weekend as the club decided on its 53-man roster.

Practice squad players are eligible to be signed by other teams, but the Seahawks are willing to take the risk with Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn as their two active quarterbacks. Eleven other teams NFL teams are also going with two on the active roster.

Besides Portis, the No. 3 quarterback a year ago behind Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Tarvaris, the Seahawks brought in six to the practice squad who were with the team in fall camp: safety DeShawn Shead, receiver Ricardo Lockette, guard Rishaw Johnson, tight end Sean McGrath and two linebackers, Korey Toomer and Allen Bradford. One spot on the practice squad remains open.

The Seahawks filled the void at tight end by signing Evan Moore, 6-7, 232-pound Stanford grad who played three years for the Cleveland Browns, where he caught 62 passes for 804 yards and five touchdowns. He will back up Zach Miller and Anthony McCoy.

The Seahawks cut veteran TE Kellen Winslow, acquired from Tampa Bay, Friday after he refused to take a pay cut from his $3.3 million deal.

The Seahawks are going with five running backs, including rookie Kregg Lumpkin, one more from a year a year ago, and keeping nine offensive linemen, one less than a year ago.

Defensive end Chris Clemons is the only player in his 30s, although linebacker Leroy Hill will join him Sept. 14.
