Oklahoma City 'Thank You' shirt angers Sonics fans

An Oklahoma City clothing company drew the ire of Seattle SuperSonics fans in May when it was learned they were selling T-shirts and tank tops “thanking” Seattle for the Oklahoma City Thunder (the former Sonics which were moved to OKC in 2008.) The shirts included a re-creation of the Sonics logo, but without the Space Needle. War Paint Clothing Company told KING 5 News via Twitter that it was “saying thank you for such a great organization. We truly appreciate and respect” Seattle. Clearly, some Sonics fans weren’t buying it. War Paint Clothing started reporting death threats it had received. Those threats only served to help boost the company’s sales thanks to support from its community. War Paint has since redesigned the shirt, changing the skyline in the logo from Seattle to Oklahoma City.
