Something many Washington State University football fans have wanted for years at Martin Stadium is crimson end zones – something with more pop than just the words “Washington State” and “Cougars” over generic, green turf.
It looks like they might be getting half of their wish.
A leaked image that is spreading around the Internet shows what could be a new field design with a red end zone with “Washington State” in white and a gray end zone with “Cougars” in crimson.
This is the design of the new Washington State turf floating around this afternoon. Nothing too fancy. I’d like it. http://t.co/lZYIRPIbSV— Kevin McGuire (@KevinOnCFB) June 10, 2014
The end zone colors include a two-tone diagonal pattern, which SB Nation reports is similar to the floors in the new football operations building.
The numbers marking the yard lines are also changed to match the font on the team jerseys.
The Cougars open their home schedule on Thursday, Aug. 28, against Rutgers with their annual Seattle game at CenturyLink Field. The first game at Martin Stadium will be Sept. 13 against Portland State.
