Zags Midnight Madness goes national

08:42 AM PDT on Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Associated Press

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga's Midnight Madness basketball kickoff will get a national audience on Friday.

Gonzaga will be one of five stops as ESPNU televises Midnight Madness on Friday evening from Spokane, as well as Davidson, Kansas, Georgetown and Indiana.

Admission is free to the event at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

All five schools appeared in the NCAA tournament last season, with Kansas winning the national title.

Gonzaga made its 10th straight NCAA tournament appearance last season, but was knocked out in the first round. Several publications have the Bulldogs listed as a preseason Top 25 team. They went 25-8 last season and have almost everyone back.
