Oregon State TB is Pac-10 offensive player of week

07:17 AM PDT on Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Associated Press

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State tailback Jacquizz Rodgers was rewarded yesterday for shredding Southern California's defense on Thursday night.

Rodgers, a freshman from Richmond, Texas, is this week's Pac-10 offensive player of the week after rushing 37 times for 186 yards and two touchdowns in the Beavers' 27-21 victory over the Trojans.

Oregon senior safety Greg Laybourn is the Pac-10's defensive player of the week and California punt returner Syd'Quan Thompson is the league's special teams player of the week.

Southern California's shocking loss as a 25 1/2-point underdog dropped the Trojans from No. 1 to No. 9 in this week's The Associated Press college football poll.
